Everything you need to know about Soakr.
Soakr is a free iOS app for discovering, reviewing, and tracking hot springs across the United States. Think of it as AllTrails for hot springs. We have over 1,700 verified springs across 23 states, complete with maps, filters, detailed info, and community reviews.
Yes. Soakr is completely free to download and use. All hot spring listings, maps, reviews, and filters are available at no cost. We will never gate hot spring discovery behind a paywall.
Over 1,700 verified hot springs across 23 US states, including primitive backcountry springs, developed facilities, commercial operations, and full-service resorts. Our database grows constantly through community submissions.
No. You can browse all springs, use maps and filters, and read reviews without an account. You only need an account to write reviews, upload photos, track visits, or submit new springs.
Yes. Soakr caches spring data and recently viewed map areas for offline use. This is important because many hot springs are in remote locations with poor cell coverage.
Soakr uses a 5-dimension rating system. Instead of a single star rating, you rate springs across five categories: overall experience, water quality, scenery, accessibility, and facilities. This gives visitors a much more complete picture of what to expect.
The Passport is a gamified visit tracker. Log every spring you visit with dates and photos, track your stats (springs visited, states covered, visits this year), build a wishlist of springs you want to visit, and share your soaking journey.
Absolutely. Soakr has a built-in submission flow. Drop a pin on the map or enter coordinates, add details like name, type, temperature, clothing policy, fees, amenities, and photos, then submit for moderation. Our team reviews every submission before it goes live.
Our baseline data comes from NOAA, USGS, OpenStreetMap, and state geological surveys. Community contributions add photos, reviews, and updated conditions. However, conditions change. Always verify access, land ownership, and current conditions independently before visiting any hot spring.
Hot springs involve inherent risks including scalding temperatures, harmful bacteria, unstable terrain, toxic gases, and remote locations. Always check conditions before visiting, tell someone your plans, and exercise caution. Soakr provides information to help you plan, but you are responsible for your own safety. See our Terms of Use for full safety disclosures.
Not yet. Soakr is currently iOS only. An Android version is planned. Follow us for updates on availability.
Tap the "Report" option on any spring listing in the app, or email us at hello [at] soakr.com. We review all reports and update listings accordingly.
